I gave my first true presentation at a non-profit focused seminar to help better inform their organizations on marketing, design, web, printing, etc.
I’ve been teaching for about 6 years, so this was easy to do, but trying to construct a presentation on “design tips” for a group of folks that are not even designers was difficult—so I thought the best thing to do was talk about communication hierarchy, and remind us all of the basics. Make sure the communication has a priority of communication and that the purpose of the piece (invitation, annc. to an event, art auction, concert, etc) doesn’t get caught up in politics and other messaging that would interfere with the primary message.
And, then I gave a few tips like the one above—they laughed. After I was done. . .silence. Finally one person asked a question, and the dam burst. It was fun.

Sounds like good times. Great to hear.
