Michael is a graphic designer, living and working in the Mid-South. His passion is design—especially, designing experiences. He believes the experience — whether you are browsing a brochure, walking into a store, or a large corporation making contact with it’s audience—is what keeps customers coming back.
After 15 years as a design director at Memphis-based ODEN (working with Fortune 100 and 500 companies such as FedEx and International Paper), Michael has started down a new path where he will continue his efforts in business-to-business communication, branding and identity through multiple channels and disciplines.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Memphis. He has previously worked at several local Memphis firms, including Walker & Associates, John Malmo Advertising and Thompson & Company. He also lived and worked in the Los Angeles area as a freelance designer working on everything from large healthcare corporation communications to micro-brew beer packaging.
Michael has served on the Memphis Center City Commission Design Review Board for three years. He currently serves on the Metal Museum Board of Trustees, is an active Board Member of AIGA’s Memphis chapter, and serves as editor of the Mid-South Region Porsche Club of America Newsletter.
His work has been featured in Graphis Poster annual, Power Packaging, and Communication Arts Illustration Annual, to name a few.
In his free time, Michael enjoys hanging out with his two designer-friendly black labs, Lady and Battle, and driving his red 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe around regional racetracks.
He resides in his 1958 East Memphis ranch-style home with his two designer-friendly labs. (updated 02-06-2010)
