Poster for a local group, Lamar Avenue Love. Lamar Avenue, a major street taken over by urban blight, is known for it’s hookers and cheap furniture outlets along with abandoned buildings such this shot of the Lamar Theater. Elvis used to rent this out late night to watch films with friends. A cool factoid to note, the bass player’s grandfather, unbeknownst to me when I came up with this design, built this theater. ©2007 michael guthrie

More band posters. IBG stands for Ill Booten Gotty, which was originally Ill Gotten Booty.

IC Homes Logo
Logo design for my brother and wife’s company that buys and sells real estate. IC is the roman numeral 99, which is their goal, and so the image is of a house (their goal) appearing just on the horizon. They are well on their way.

Chip Pankey Photography

This was designed to show-off the work. Also, for the photographer to easily change out the images himself. My favorite part of this concept is how I solved the challenge of showing non-people images, but still emphasizing the client request of being a “people” photographer. My resolution was the line “Exposing ______ People ______ “, and the roll-overs show the different ways of exposing people’s lives in 6 diffrerent categories of imagery. Note: The coding needs to be updated, but that’s out of my control.

Logo design for my local chapter of the Porsche Club of America. This was a design collaboraition between one of my students, Erin Cressman, and myself.

If you’re not familiar with this image, it’s the Hernando Desoto bridge in Memphis, which is considered the gateway to the mid-south, and the actual structure looks like the letter M. Plus we merged with an open road, where porsches love to be.

Dead Elvis Ball
Poster design for an annual event at the Poor & Hungry Cafe in Memphis.

Wine
The company I work for designed wine bottles for our clients during the holiday season. This was my creation. The label has the word “peace” ghosted into the design in every language I could find the transaltion for.

Bridge 1

Part of a calendar poster series to promote International Paper Accent® Opaque printing paper. The idea was to give the paper merchant reps a reason to visit the printers every 2 months, for valuable face-time in selling this grade of printing paper. The client wanted to promote the new millineum, so we came up with the idea of bridges to represent the link from the past to the future. Plus, bridges are just plain cool. Dan Cosgrove, of Chicago, was the master behind these elaborate illustrations.
