bench building can be fun (not!)

My first major project at our new home

The benches around the pool and on the deck were rotted and falling apart (you’ll see some of that debris in the background). I’ve never heard “I didn’t know you were sooooo handy” so many times—building a house with your dad when growing up, helps. I learned a long time ago not advertise certain skills, because I can only do so much of this . I think they turned out well.

Note the rubble in the back ground. This is the remains of the previos benches. You could push through the wood with your finger in some places. Lots of rusty nails. I don’t think they used proper materials when they originally built these.
